The program is designed to reduce or eliminate the risk of flooding and other natural disasters. The program includes “Advanced Assistance”, which will pay 100% of preliminary studies for flood mitigation projects that will subsequently reduce flood claims. The program will also include emergency measures for fires such as creating defensible space, as well as emergency equipment such as vehicles and backup generators.

Funding varies greatly (state agencies passthrough funds to local government sub applicants)
