Water and Energy Efficiency Grants provide funding for projects that result in quantifiable water savings and support broader water reliability benefits. WaterSMART provides up to 50% grant funding for eligible projects. Program focuses on quantifiable, recorded data to show water savings, reliability, etc. WaterSMART focuses on agricultural use but also funds municipal metering and water loss prevention projects. This funding goes well with canal piping/lining projects coupled with NRCS On-Farm improvements.
Featured Project
Yellowstone Feeder Canal Lining Project
The Yellowstone Feeder Canal serves several communities in the state of Utah. When deterioration of the concrete surrounding the canal led to 6,000 acre feet of water loss, rehabilitation was requested. After successfully acquiring funding from the Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART grant, JDE performed environmental clearances, right-of-way coordination with Ute Tribe, and cost analysis for best-value solutions for seepage losses in canal in an effort to prevent significant water loss.
