The Western Wildland Urban Interface Grant Program administers funds from the National Fire Plan that are dedicated to mitigate risk from wildland fire within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). This program supports the following activities on private and state lands: hazardous fuel reduction, fire-adapted ecosystem restoration, homeowner information and education, assessment and planning, and monitoring through community and landowner action. Funds are available and awarded through a competitive process to 22 western state agencies. Local communities need to apply through the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands. Projects that include a cost-share or service in-kind contribution will have priority for selection.
